FANS AT ABOVE GROUND MRT STATIONS

High volume,low speed (HVLS) fan by Rite Hite at Paya Lebar MRT Station

As of 2012, all above ground MRT stations have fans installed. There are 2 types of fans used: the blade design and the jet design. The blade design spins at a slow speed, but it is able to generate large winds throughout a station. The jet design also can generate large winds but in a certain direction depending on which direction the fan is facing. These fans are installed due to the problem of the 1.5M Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) blocking some fresh air entering the stations.
