The new generation 'Titan' faregates(first 2 pictures from top) will replace the 1ST and 2ND generation faregates very soon as the 1ST and 2ND generation faregates have been in service for more than 20 years.The new faregate has 14 sensors which can differentiate between human and inanimate objects and thus prevents tailgating,that is to avoid paying fares.It also prevents users from hitting the gate itself as it remains open until the user who has tapped his or her ez-link card on the card reader has passed through.It is also energy-saving as it uses servo-motors and low energy LED displays.It does not show a green arrow or a red cross for entry or exit.Instead,it shows a green or a red light bar for entry or exit.

JURONG EAST MODIFICATION PROJECT(JEMP)

This photo shows the new platform at Jurong East MRT Station.This platform was built to boost the capacity of the station as only one North South Line(NSL) train could terminate at this station at any one time.When this platform opens in around May 2011,two NSL trains can terminate at this station at any one time.This platform was also built to ease peak hour crowds.With the 22 C151A trains coming to revenue service at the same time as the platform's opening,the capacity of the North South Line (NSL)and the East West Line(EWL)will be increased by 15%. (NB:Platform Screen Doors(PSDs) are already installed and are ready to go operational at the same time.)

The Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151A is the newest rolling stock to run on Singapore's two oldest Mass Rapid Transit(MRT)lines,the North South Line(NSL) and the East West Line(EWL).Twenty-two(22)units of the C151A have been purchased at the cost of S$369 million.The C151A is a joint venture betwwen Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CSR Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation,which is based in Qingdao,Shandong,China.Unlike the C151 which have plastic roller run number displays,these trains have electronic light emitting diode(LED)run number displays.These trains already have the SMRT Active Route Map Information System(STARIS)installed and can be expected to be in revenue service in around May 2011.

NEW BUS STOP POLES!

The new bus stop pole comes in three designs
Now Singaporeans only see the old bus stop pole(top)with all the bus information boards sticking out.But now,the design has changed.All the bus services are now displayed in the pole itself! (except the standard design)The new design comes with a in-built notice board that shows bus service information when needed.
